The Pickled Herring Band plays a toe-tapping variety of accordion music reminiscent of dance pavilions and grange halls of yesteryear. From schottisches, polkas, waltzes, foxtrots, swing and more, the familiar melodies are bound to spark old memories with one generation and create new memories for another. Band members include Lori Hansen; accordion, Michael Yacco, tuba, George Eldridge, drums, and Jim Reynolds, guitar. Based in the Pacific Northwest, band members have combined their musical talents for more than three years playing at festivals, fairs, dances and other special events. Their CD "Pickled Favorites", has been featured on the Scandinavian Hour radio program in Seattle and a music video was recorded at Normanna Hall in Everett, both produced by Sound Trap Studio of Freeland. The Pickled Herring Band style of Music is influenced by Lori's Scandinavian heritage, studying accordion for many years with Paul Karlson of Ballard, and growing up listening to recordings of Walter Erickson and Carl Jularbo. Michael, George, and Jim add their talent and humor to round out what is truly a fun musical experience. A certain someone's fondness for a good batch of pickled herring resulted in the idea of naming this group after that delicacy and it was a good thing. |
